The Victualler Harbourside Bar & Restaurant

Royal Clarence Marina, Weevil Ln, Gosport PO12 1FX, UK – 023 9258 2513

Really interesting building with lots of history. The huge biscuit ovens are lit up with different colour light. Really adds to the atmosphere. The food is relatively pricey but you will see why when you get your food. It's amazing. I had the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce. Was delicious. Tried bits of other people's meals too. They were all outstanding. I'd recommend this place if your in the area.

Visited last Sunday 8th June 2018. Staff welcoming, cheerful and attentive. Food presented nicely and very tasty. However the cauliflour cheese was one of the worst I've tasted. Watery and tough, quite unpleasant. Chef take note! Great welcome. Superb sea bass risotto. Delicious brownie, with ice cream and popping topping. Booking made for a family birthday dinner. Highly recommend. Just the sort of place we have been waiting for.

The New Bengal Indian Restaurant

27 Stoke Rd, Gosport PO12 1LS, UK – 023 9258 3722

The BEST Indian restaurant in the South. Staff are impeccable in dress and manners. The premise is spotless and the menu is fabulous. 100% recommend this restaurant.

Beautiful food every time I visit! A very firm favourite with my 7 year old too!

Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill Restaurant

2 Vulcan Buildings, Portsmouth PO1 3BF, UK – 023 9277 8060

Excellent and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and the staff are efficient, pleasant and knowledgeable about what is on offer at the time. Brilliant location and with the good weather we are having, made the most of eating al fresco. The food and choice is awesome. Can't wait to come back

Overall, Superb! Wonderful evening meal, the food was excellent and the service was as attentive as anyone could wish for, despite the restaurant being extremely busy. We found it to be so good that we went back for lunch the next day and their in-house fishmonger also had our custom. A credit to them. Lovely outdoor area, very pleasant on a sunny evening!

Best Reviewed Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Zizzi Portsmouth

Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth PO1 3TA, UK – 023 9217 5111

The sea bass was so good I had to return a couple of nights later. My husband really enjoyed his pasta even though he's not a huge fan. The staff were efficient and friendly.... even remembered us from our first visit. Will definitely return there on our next visit

Decided to visit Zizzis in Gunwharf (Portsmouth) yesterday. The service was amazingly fast, we where in and out in under an hour. Food was as usual mouthtastic and I would 100% recommend anyone to try it there. Toilets could be better kept tho. 2/2 Been again and the waiter was fantastic. Cannot recommend this place more.

Azzurro

Upper Level, Gunwharf Quays, Seafront, Gunwharf Rd, Portsmouth PO1 3TA, UK – 023 9283 2111

Good service by 1 waitress, the rest were rude. The food was really good but didn’t all come out at once and people on our table had to wait 5 + mins. Poor kitchen management in that respect but made up for this by that 1 good waitress who comped a couple of drinks for us. Try to sit outside, the view overlooking the harbour and the sunset is amazing! If I could, it would be a 3.5 rating.

Excellent food as usual. Staff are very friendly and efficient. We always eat here when we visit the Quays. I definitely recommend it.

Carluccio's

Blake House, Portsmouth PO1 3TZ, UK – 023 9287 6372

Great place to sit and people-watch. Good Italian food, and Peroni on tap. They serve breakfast here too, lunch, dinner and light snacks. Good view of the spinnaker tower so you can watch people to abseiling etc

Fantastic service as always, great staff and good food. Our waiter was from Barcelona and had that knowledge of when to attend to you and when to leave you to chat. Use this place a lot because of the outstanding service. Well done to all.

All Bar One Portsmouth

Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth PO1 3TA, UK – 023 9283 8880

Visited here yesterday morning, what can I say, such an amazing team, so friendly and polite! They couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried. The food was delicious and piping hot! The peroni area was particularly nice! Will be back very soon!

Overall, very good indeed. We visited on a Thursday evening, it wasn't hugely busy but there was a nice lively atmosphere with customers all enjoying themselves. Food was well presented and tasty, service was prompt and efficient. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

Slug & Lettuce

R07, 79 Gunwharf Rd, Portsmouth PO1 3TR, UK – 023 9200 7602

Very good food and a lot of variety! They do offer vegetarian options as well as meat options! Quite spacious, perfect if you want lunch or dinner by the sea.

Great views sitting outside looking out across the water. Sadly smoking was allowed at the outside tables and this spoiled some of the enjoyment. The food was very good (pasta portion was small) but the queue to order was about 15 minutes. After having table service through the excellent Wetherspoon app I wish Slug and Lettuce could get it too!

Tiger Tiger

Central Bldg Gunwharf Quays, Gunwharf Rd, Portsmouth PO1 3TP, UK – 023 9288 2244

If you want a good night out' out! I recommend checking out Tiger Tiger. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment, however the three separate clubs were very good. The music was decent and between 5-9 all booze was half price!! Happy days. Good atmosphere for a big place.

We held my wife's 70th birthday celebration buffet and drinks, on Sunday 12th August, at Tiger Tiger, Gun Wharf, Portsmouth. We had a BRILLIANT time, the food was EXCELLENT and all the staff were superb. Nothing was too much trouble. MANY, MANY thanks India and the team. We can highly recommend this venue, so go for it!

Gosport Chinese Restaurants

Mary Rose Dragon

19 St George's Rd, Portsmouth PO1 2EW, UK – 023 9275 1751

The best food around! I could live off the food at this place! I used too visit at least twice weekly for quite a period of time. The chicken satay skewers are beyond comprehension at times with just how good they can be! Just take a warm jumper as if the weather is cold it can be cold inside as well. Friendly staff and very good with young children. This place is not somewhere too go if you expect a five star dining experience, however of you want six star food then this is the place!!!

Business lunch.great food .excellent service. And very good prices. Parking easy..

Good Fortune

21 High St, Portsmouth PO1 2LP, UK – 023 9286 3293

Ordered just king prawn fried rice, cost only £5.60. Drove around within 10 mins it was ready Collected it walked out enjoyed it.. Very tasty prawns too. I'll go there again

I've only ever had takeaway from here, but it has always been good. I've rarely seen the restaurant itself busy, but often it is frequented by Chinese patrons so I wok on a bit of an assumption that the food is possibly less 'westernised' than other Chinese restaurants.

Harbour View Chinese

15 Queen Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO1 3HL, UK – 023 9275 0931

Good food. Pretty decent prices. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food. They have amazing won tons

Top Chinese food and excellent customer service. Highly recommended !!!

Gosport Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Frankie & Benny's

Unit 76, First Floor, Portsmouth PO1 3TZ, UK – 023 9273 2151

Got there nice and early (9am) on a Sunday morning. There was hardly anyone around, so ample parking available. Great range of breakfast options, tradional breakfasts and a variety of pancake and waffles. We tried something a bit different, a waffle burger, which made for a surprisingly good breakfast. Service was outstanding, but then again they were only serving 3 tables. We would definitely go back.

Tasty food, you get what it says on the label. Very good value for money. Reasonably quick service and very polite staff .Would definitely go back again.

Katies Vinyl Bar & Kitchen

134 High St, Gosport PO12 1HA, UK – 023 9252 4259

Had breakfast there yesterday morning. They have a great breakfast menu and are very geared towards vegetarians and vegans foods. Lots to choose from. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.. Both our breakfasts were good and we enjoyed them.. One point to make though. The chef is relying to heavily on their deep fat fryer. Vegetarian sausages were deep fried as were my potato scones for my Scottish breakfast ( which were full of grease ). Smacks of a lazy chef!

This is a lovely bat to visit . Clean not too expensive. Excellent service . Bar staff are fantastic . The beer is excellent and they do beers from all over the world like a lovely lager from Spain called Alhambra and a light ale called Sierra Nevada from California. Moosehead from Canada. Music on a Friday and Saturday night which is always good . A lovely place to chill relax and enjoy a pint of excellent beer .

Pizza Express

Gunwharf Quays, North Promenade, Portsmouth PO1 3TA, UK – 023 9283 2939

Nice meal in a beautiful location by the docks. Slight delay with service despite not being busy and the outdoor seating area was already closed to new customers before 9pm. However overall the experience was pleasing.

Great pizza express - always good service and the food is consistently of a high standard. Lovely view of Portsmouth harbour too!

The Bridge Tavern

54 East St, Portsmouth PO1 2JJ, UK – 023 9275 2992

We really enjoyed our fish and chips. Quick service. However, there were no sunshades /umbrellas either at the back or front seating areas which meant we sat inside to eat.

Great pub in the Old Portsmouth location. My favourite to visit when the sun is shining so you can sit on the camber and watch the goings on. Have a good selection of food which is tasty enough. Drinks selection also good. Staff are friendly, chatty and helpful. It's a pleasure to visit.

The Jolly Roger

156 Priory Rd, Gosport PO12 4LQ, UK – 023 9258 2584

I love this place, i frequented this pub years ago as a growing man. It's quirky but has a great appeal. The food is great and it's lovely to eat whilst looking through the window over the harbour towards ports down hill. The staff are fantastic. My partner and I have a love for the Jolly Roger as our haunt and a place to eat and chat . Book a table to be sure and you won't be disappointed.

We first visited back in Dec 2017, it was lively and full of atmosphere and life and dog friendly which is a huge thumbs up. We visited recently and it really feels like it's being run down to it's end. All the lights inside were turned off, on the top level to the right of the bar it might as well had been boarded up. The tables outside need new tops putting on them. The place was quite dirty and needed cleaning. Whilst the service was quick it felt rushed with no care or checking up if everything was ok. The mains came immediately after the starter as if we were being watched through the window. The food was nice though a little pricey but good, went for the BBQ chicken starter, scampi and chips and burger + chips. I hope it survives and manages to pull through I hate seeing pubs exchange to arrogant property developers, I'm aware it's due a refurbishment but the current staff need to step up their game or move on and let someone with passion take it over.

Ship Anson

10 The Hard, Portsmouth PO1 3DT, UK – 023 9282 4152

For good value, this is the place to come and a lot of people have already found this out. Good beer and food combo for a very good price. Even better now that the toilets have been refurbished.

Very friendly staff, the food was very affordable and came quickly. A great place for lunch when visiting the historical dockyard!
